Kay Brown’s Personalized Paintings is a small business in West Bend, Iowa that specializes in custom matting and framing along with woodwork, stain matching, woodgraining doors, repairing and painting concrete statues, plus additional art projects for customers.

While in high school, Brown painted for various individuals and began painting professionally in 1985. In 1998, Brown started interior painting and staining with The Perfect Touch.

When Covid hit, Community Lumber approached Brown with her current space, as lumber companies found it difficult to acquire pre-stained wood trim for customers in a timely manner.

It was a good decision for Brown as it is a space where she can “specialize on word grained doors, old furniture and statue refurbishing, as well as custom matting and framing.”

In addition to her business, Brown plans to continue doing as many things as she loves as long as she can into her retirement.
