Kimberly-Johnson-2024-Mayor

Mayor Kim’s Corner

Remembrance and Summer Excitement!

Hello again from Mayor Kim Johnson.

I want to make sure you are aware that our city office will be closed May 27-30 to continue MUCH NEEDED remodeling. Please email as that will be checked daily. Phone messages will not be checked during this closure. If you want to talk to someone in person, please contact myself at 320-241-4770. Thanks for your patience.  In my opinion, this remodel is very important for the staff’s health, safety and for our community.

Memorial Day is upon us. Please start the day off at the Fireman’s breakfast and then join us at the cemetery for Memorial Day events as we honor those who lost their lives serving our country. Details are on our electric sign downtown!

I want to extend my congratulations to our high school graduates and wish them prayers and good luck as they move into the next chapter of life. As a community we need to continue to embrace and support these graduates as we hope they will continue to reside or move back to our community in the future.

With school coming to a close and summer on the horizon we have so many exciting things to look forward to. The splash pad and pool will be opening soon so watch for that information.   I saw a post that they are always looking for pool toys so please consider a donation.

My article will probably come out on the day of this event but I hope I see you all at the West Bend Care Center freewill BBQ that has been rescheduled for this Thursday, May 22.  I will continue to promote this facility as we are so blessed to be able to have a center in town. The residents really enjoy these festivities and seeing so many friends and visitors.

Retirement countdown – 2 more weeks as I write this article.

I want to clarify this is retirement from being an AEA Speech-Language Pathologist after 40 years, not Mayor! My family will be in town for a celebration, along with a few friends so am super excited to spend time with them.

As always, if there is anything you would like me to be doing as your mayor, please reach out.  Be assured that there is no cost for this column.  We are very fortunate to still have an actual newspaper that serves our community. Feel free to contact me at any time at my email (kjkimtalk2@gmail.com) or you can reach me by phone at 320-241-4770.
