The West Bend Fire Department is a volunteer department made up of 24 active members. The Fire Department is led by a Fire Chief, Assistant Chief and three Captains. The department members are required to receive specialized training with Fire Fighter I certification required. They also complete HazMat and Incident Command training as part of their curriculum.
The West Bend Fire Department is known for the longevity of its members, with 15 of the volunteers having ten or more years of service. The members meet the first and third Wednesday’s of the month for additional training and business meetings. They respond to calls in West Bend and the surrounding area. They are able to assist other departments in both Kossuth and Palo Alto County through Mutual Aid Agreements.
